All over the world, companies are gradually moving towards optimising their IT infrastructure costs and operate efficiently. If your company also seeks to reinvent its business strategy and make operations more productive then this is the right time to find ways to optimise costs across the IT infrastructure. And when it comes to cloud cost optimisation, different companies adopt different business strategy. Microsoft Azure, however, keeps focus on cost optimisation and for that it has defined four stages.
Stages of Azure Cost Optimisation
There are four stages of azure cost optimisation.
This stage covers the initial planning of a company’s workload architecture and cost model to understand a company’s clear requirements, initial cost estimation, and understanding an organisation’s policies and constraints.
In this stage, companies choose and deploy the resources that will make up their workload. There are many considerations and trade-offs that could impact cost at this stage, like which services and region to select.
This stage is about keeping a close watch on a company’s deployed workload, how it is being used, and the overall spend through activities like building spending reports, conducting regular cost reviews, and responding to alerts.
In the final stage, you can make your workload more efficient through techniques like resisting the underutilised resources, using reserved instances, taking advantage of licensing offers for cost benefits, and re-evaluating initial design choices.
Therefore, you can optimise your azure workload costs in the following ways.
Identify your idle virtual machines, cloud infrastructure, and other resources with tech support. Get recommendations on which resources to shut down and analyse how much you can save.
You can identify your underutilised resources and work on reducing your costs by reconfiguring or consolidating them.
As a company you can save by dynamically allocating and de-allocating your resources to match your performance requirement.
There are systems wherein you can create and manage budgets for the Azure services you use or subscribe to—and monitor your organisation’s cloud spending.
For companies, Azure offers many ways to host code. Operate cost-efficiently by selecting the right compute service for your application.
You can find and delete idle virtual disks via Azure portal Disks screen where you can classify all your active managed virtual disks located in your current storage account. Check out the owner for each virtual disk and if it is not being used by any VM, delete it.
Conclusion
There are numerous ways for reducing your overall Microsoft Azure costs. But these ways depend on your workload, resources, goal, and long-term vision. In case you have questions regarding your Azure cost optimisation ways, contact Azure experts, and get the right information
